COVID BOOSTER PROGRAMME

If you are now eligible for your COVID-19 booster please book it as soon as possible. Please do not ring the surgery regarding your boosters.

Please visit www.birminghamandsolihullcovidvaccine.nhs.uk or call 119 to book an appointment of find a walk in clinic near you.

As a practice we will contact you when we have set up our own clinics

In line with the Government's announcement, the NHS is aiming to offer every adult the chance to book a COVID-19 booster vaccine by the end of the year. This means our practice is now prioritising the booster roll out. As part of this some of our routine services may be stood down temporarily to allow us to focus on protecting as many patients as possible.

Please do not forget there are many services available for you, depending on your condition. These include:

Self Care: this is the best choice to treat minor illnesses and injuries such as hangovers, coughs, colds, grazes, small cuts or sore throats. Many of these can be treated a home, simply with over the counter medicines and plenty of rest.

Pharmacy: Pharmacists can give advice on and treat a range of symptoms. They can support you with things such as diarrhoea, ear aches, painful coughs, sticky eyes, teething and rashes.

NHS 111: You can access 111 online or via the telephone. This is for any urgent but non life threatening health concerns. They will be able to signpost you to the relevant service and provide advice where appropriate, or book you into an urgent treatment cnetre.

A&E/999: You should only attend A&E or dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency such as severe bleeding, breathing difficulties and severe chest pain.

EXTRA DR SESSIONS ADDED

The partners have listened to patient's concerns about lack of appointments and since the beginning of November have increased the number of doctor sessions by 5 extra per week.

The Local Medical Committee are supporting GPs and their staff with regards the excessive workload general pracrtice is facing, whilst still in a pandemic.

Please remember we are not a pub or shop and rules within general practice are different. Face masks must always be worn when attending the surgery. Face to face appointments will be made by the Dr once they have spoken the patient and feel a face to face appointment is advisable. We have to think of our vulnerable patients and protect our clinical and admin team to allow the surgery to remain open.

Please be polite and respectful to our staff as they are working hard to meet patient requests, whilst dealing with an excessive workload. Thank you

GRAFTON ROAD SURGERY WILL CONTINUE TO ASK ALL PATIENTS ATTENDING THE SURGERY TO WEAR A MASK.

OUR FRONT DOOR WILL REMAIN LOCKED AND PATIENTS WHO HAVE A BOOKED FACE TO FACE APPOINTMENT CAN ENTER THE PREMISES PROVIDING THEY WEAR A MASK.

THIS IS TO PROTECT BOTH STAFF AND PATIENTS WHILST THE DELTA AND OMICROM VARIANT IS STILL PREVALENT.

DATA OPT OUT CAMPAIGN

Update as of 20th July 2021: patients do not need to opt out, if they wish, by 1st September 2021. This will be deferred for at least twelve months whilst further consultations with take place. A new system for opting out of data sharing will be developed in due course and you will be informed of this as it happens.

Please see news section on this website for further information.

APPOINTMENTS

We would like to advise patients that the Practice is open, however due to the still ongoing Coronavirus situation, it remains closed for general access. Only patients with appointments should come to the Practice.

Doctors appointments will be via telephone or video consultation. Face to Face appointments are available and you will be advised by the Doctor if you need to be seen at the Practice.

Please understand telephone appointments can sometimes take longer than a face to face appointment so the Doctor may take longer to contact you, but please be assured you will receive your call.

Please note that we are still providing Childhood Immunisations, Cervical Smear, Vitamin B12 etc Appointments. Please contact Reception to book a routine appointment for these.

When asked to come to the Practice please wear a face covering as we are using strict infection control measures to keep our patients and staff safe.

We will be contacting patients with some Chronic Diseases to organise their reviews. These will be carried out by telephone or video consultation and where it is necessary, a face to face appointment will be arranged. Our Nursing Staff will be in touch to discuss reviews. If you think you have missed your review please contact the surgery for advice.

Please remember to utilise your local Pharmacy for advice.

You may also call the NHS 111 service.

PRESCRIPTIONS

For those patients who order their prescription on site, please post your request into the post box next to the front door, preferably using the right hand side of their previous prescription.

We need all patients to nominate a local Pharmacy to receive their prescription electronically, this will reduce journies and length of time you are out of your home. There may be an extenuating circumstance when electronic prescription service may be unavailable, we will of course advise patients of this, should the situation arise.
